We are thrilled to welcome The New Factory of the Eccentric Actor back to MDR, following their wonderful performance of The Blue Blouse (Синяя блуза) in 2019.

First staged by The New Factory in September 2022, ‘FEKS’ is a small-scale 45 minute work that celebrates the very first production by Fabrika Ekstsentricheskogo Aktera – the original Factory of the Eccentric Actor founded in 1921, and the publication of their manifesto ‘Eccentrism 1922’. Based on the manifesto of 1922 the show reflects both the ethos of the company FEKS, and their approach to performance. Grigori Kozintsev a founder member of FEKS said of their work “It was a case of trying to demolish all the usual theatrical forms and to find others, which could convey the intense sentiment of our new lives.”

The New Factory of the Eccentric Actor was formed in 1996 with the aim of staging theatrical work in spaces not usually used for theatre. A loose collective of performers, musicians, writers, designers, and others, the company, inspired by momentous and often forgotten episodes in radical history, has produced multiple events free to the general public. Over the course of 29 years the company has staged more than 50 plays and events.
