FREE TRIALS #1 is the first in a new monthly series of events engaging with the MayDay Rooms radical poetry archival collection. Each event will begin with us pulling out the radical poetry archive, reading and scanning these materials (6-7pm). Between 7-9pm will be poetry readings from the archive, alongside a couple of contemporary poets reading new work.
The radical poetry archival collection at MayDay Rooms features historical and contemporary dissident, heretical, non-conformist and revolutionary poetries, and the scanning and reading series is an invitation for us to regularly congregate, so that we may engage, discuss, and proliferate these texts.
This event is hosted by Danny Hayward, Lizzie Homersham, Luke Roberts, Aurelia Guo and Rowan Powell.
Feel free to join for scanning, or reading, or both.
Access information: The event will take place in the screening room on the first floor. The screening room is accessible via the staircase (there is no lift). There are 3 flights of steps with landings in between, each with 10 shallow steps (30 steps in total). The bathroom is located on the second floor, up an additional 2 flights of stairs (20 steps total). The staircase has a handrail throughout. Please contact MayDay Rooms with any access queries.
